I am excited to share my experience at my first fair, Poyntington May Fair, yesterday. Everything turned out just right, from the arrival of my newly designed packaging to the beautiful weather. This event not only celebrated the art of handmade crafts but also raised funds for local charities, including 'The Rendezvous', the Sherborne Food Bank, and Poyntington Church.
The fair featured over 35 craft stalls, creating a lively gathering. I was thrilled to showcase my handmade bath salts, which received good feedback from visitors. As I set up my stall, the atmosphere buzzed with laughter, conversation, and warm sunshine. I had been preparing for this day for months, and seeing it all come together was very exciting.
New Packaging and Presentation
The new packaging arrived just in time for the fair. It brings a fresh look to my bath salts, which I had previously packed into glass jars. This will make mailing them out a little less fragile!

Because the salts are now packed into cellophane bags inside the tubes, I displayed glass jars filled with my bath salts, allowing potential customers to experience the fragrances first-hand. Alongside them were bowls of Epsom salts and Himalayan rock salt, with descriptions highlighting their benefits. This not only enhanced the visual appeal but also engaged customers in discovering more about the products they were interested in.
Engaging with Customers
Talking to the customers was one of the best parts of participating in the fair. Many expressed an interest in my bath salts, and several inquired about subscription options for regular deliveries. While chatting with customers, I noted their preferences and ideas, inspiring me to think about future products.
Insights for Future Products
I discovered a common theme throughout the fair: many visitors preferred to shower rather than bathe. This insight is crucial, and I am already brainstorming new soap and shower gel recipes that are just as inviting as my bath salts.
A Day for a Good Cause
The fair raised funds for local charities. It was rewarding to be a part of something larger, where the community came together to support important initiatives like 'The Rendezvous', the Sherborne Food Bank, and Poyntington Church.
Looking Ahead: Future Fairs
The support I received and the interest in my products have motivated me to keep creating and participating in more fairs. I am thrilled to announce my next appearance at Sherborne Market on June 15th.
I plan to incorporate the insights from the May Fair into this upcoming event. With a renewed focus on products that cater to both bathers and showerers, I look forward to seeing how my future offerings resonate with customers.

Wrapping Up My Experience
The positive reactions to my bath salts and the community’s support for local charities made for an unforgettable day. I look forward to applying everything I learned and cannot wait for you to check out my latest creations at future fairs. Thank you to all who stopped by; your encouragement has inspired me more than you realise.
Stay tuned for updates as I continue my adventure in the artisan world, and I hope to see you at Sherborne Market on June 15th!
